In 2006, there was rumored to be at least 200 signals in which Googles uses when ranking and this has held to be true even today. In 2016, Google’s Q&A with their search engine team revealed what may be to them the three most important ranking factors everyone should keep an eye on.

Links

Links are one of the most valued factors when it comes to ranking. Think of them as votes of confidence for your site. Whether internal links, outbound links, or backlinks; Links coming from authority websites will give a stronger presence on your Google rankings. Always strive for the best quality in your links. Having too many medium to low-quality links can lower that ranking.


Having a various links with multiplicity will influence your rankings greatly. Just keep in mind that it is better if they’re distributed properly. Having 1000 links on one site will have a lower impact compared to 1000 links from different websites.

Content

When it comes to content for your site, always make it relevant, informative, fresh and qualitative. Always make sure there is text, pictures and videos. You have to catch the attention of a newcomer immediately. Then they will share the site and that’s how your drive traffic just like a storefront. Google wants to see that your content provides a great user experience.
